The Knight Industries Two Thousand car (KITT) in the Knight Rider series was immune to any evil, violent or not, that mankind could throw at it. And that was supposed to be at the end of the twentieth century! I have always found sci-fi writers to be overeager for progress and out of tune with reality. Their boyish impatience could have been a little restrained if a few of them were engineers.

If you want to take my argument further, watch "Love Srory 2050" to see what Mumbai will supposedly look like in 2050.
